Our relationally oriented program is specifically designed to meet the needs of our students and their families struggling with difficult challenges and life circumstances.
We offer a fully accredited academic program complete with advanced and college prep coursework. Our vocational program includes: Woodworking, Welding, Horsemanship, Culinary Arts, and Facilities Management. This comprehensive programming provides a life-changing opportunity to discover and create a more fulfilling lifestyle for our students.
Our mission is to teach and model that the divine image of God is within all human beings and to provide a Christ-centered community where youth can find new beginnings. Staff is intentionally diverse in the areas of race, gender, socio-economics, and denominational affiliation within the Christian tradition in order to practice God’s reconciling love with one another, and become better equipped to reach out to a diverse and often excluded population. Evoking the gifts and talents of each member, on which authority and responsibility are based, in order to carry out the corporate call among hurting youth and build up the body of Christ.
The biblical vision of Jubilee focuses on the outsider, the weak, the defenceless, the marginalized, the outcast, and those young men who struggle in life’s journey. Jubilee brings in those young men who need a second chance and gives them the opportunity and tools for a successful comeback.
The goal of Jubilee is to help those that are struggling and are on the outside or cast out to bring them into a community where they can grow in every area of their life and gradually move away from dependency to relative stability as contributing members of their families and the communities where they live.
Jubilee is an investment restoring wholeness to young men with broken lives, broken relationships, with God, self and others.Sports and Activities
Students at Jubilee can participate in soccer, football, basketball, track and baseball. Sports are available to those students that have worked hard in the program and have earned the opportunity by being academically in good standing. Since 1995, Jubilee has been helping troubled teens to overcome their struggles and become healthy and happy young adults. The services offered at Jubilee focus on the development and support of education, vocational and spiritual growth. The doors opened up with just 6 program participants and grew from there. After the first year of operation, there were 8 program graduates, half of which went to college. The campus is on 400 acres surrounded by Broetje Orchards.
The program offers a structured, positive learning environment that offers the benefits of more than thirty talented staff dedicated to helping young men gain the tools needed for success. The residential program integrates educational, spiritual, and personal growth curricula with vocational skill building activities, athletics, and community service learning projects. This integration, combined with a relationship-focused approach, provides full student engagement and results in demonstrated success.
A team of counselors and other professional staff works with each student, creating an individualized development plan that outlines objectives and goals for the student’s success. Jubilee provides a regularly scheduled formalized counseling session with each student. Regardless if the student’s struggles are major or minor, they each benefit from the individual mental health counseling as well as addiction counseling. Individual counseling focuses on improving the overall level of adaptive functioning in the areas of behavior, emotional expression, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, individual counseling takes on significant value in the resolution of issues and concerns that the student feels ill-prepared to address in the group sessions.
Group counseling is facilitated by a certified Jubilee counselor several times a week. These intensive groups cover subjects including past trauma (PTSD), grief due to a lost loved one or abandonment, substance abuse addictions, electronic use, mental illness, leadership, spiritual development and emotional regulation. Additionally, each student is assigned to two other counseling and skill-building groups which specifically address relevant issues.
Experiential Based Counseling
Certified ropes course facilitators and recreational professionals operate Jubilee’s experiential based counseling sessions. Experiential based counseling uses activity-based experiences to teach life skills in areas such as relationships, communication, teamwork, self-esteem, self-awareness, accountability, and responsibility. Involving students in challenging and unpredictable tasks helps them think in new and creative ways about old problems. These activities are designed to identify what needs to be changed in a student’s life and relationships, and helps students to take the steps necessary to achieve success.
Family counseling occurs often, based on the needs of the family and the stage of the student’s course of treatment. Family counseling sessions usually occur over the phone, but parents are welcome to attend in person or via video conferencing (SKYPE). A Jubilee counselor schedules family counseling sessions for each student. The family is also welcome to request family sessions as needed. These sessions provide the opportunity for families to work through sensitive issues together and to support each other in preventing relapse and planning for reunification.
